Winery
Life is for one generation; a good name is forever. (Japanese proverb)
A family run vineyard for three generations: Grandfather “Gigio”, father “Uge” and now daughters Sonia and Sara. The vineyards, together with the company, are located at the foot of the “Rocca Vecchia”, enjoying optimal climate with temperature variations at night and excellent sun exposure during the day.
A place of Roman origin, where vines and olives have always been cultivated. The morainic soil, rich in sediments, gives us as a result a light and pleasant wine called: Bardolino.
Wine cellar
Agriculture is the art of knowing how to wait (Riccardo Bacchelli)
The vinification takes place in concrete barrels – some of those date back to the opening of the cellar – and allow to produce wines which are not mixed with hints of durmast oak or other sweets unrelated to grape; moreover, this production process allows the tasting of wines which do not leave certain sensations of hardness on the palate, typical of steel.
In 2005 we completely rebuilt the bottaia a 150-square-metres-area where wine is placed for the ageing; it is also possible to taste a wine-selection of our production.
Vineyards
Grapes: one day the pear used to say to grapes: “oh, wretch, you will die crushed!” the grapes replied, “It’s true: but the man who tramples on me, will have his head spin” (L. Carrier)
Our vineyards are mainly made up of red grapes: Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara from which we produce Bardolino and its various types. Some vineyards of Merlot and Barbera, and some of Garganega and Trebbiano for the production of our white wines..
A small description of the red grapes of Bardolino:
CORVINA: mainly represents the structure of Bardolino wine, gives body and the characteristic, and its ruby red color.
La RONDINELLA: a strong and robust vine that gives the fruity and floral notes typical of Bardolino. Characterized by the pruina, the typical pale film that forms on the surface of the grape.
MOLINARA: used in lower quantities than the previous grapes, it supplies the saline element to the wine. Also characterized by the pruina, it differs from the Rondinella in the shape of the bunch which is rounder
and shorter in length.
